Important Fall 2010 Notice:
The last day to add a course section for the full Fall 2010 term is WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25th. Please make all additions to your schedule soon. If you have questions about course selection, please see your advisor.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25th is the last day to drop a course section without a "W" grade. Any drops after that date will result in a "W" grade on your transcript.
Message from the Cashier's Office
Book vouchers for the Fall 2010 semester will begin being available on Monday, August 16th. Any student with aid authorized/pending on their account by Wednesday, August 11th will have information for a book voucher sent directly to Stadium Bookstore. These students will not need to come to the Cashier's Office for a paper voucher, but can go directly to Stadium Bookstore beginning on Monday, August 16th. All students will need picture ID at Stadium Bookstore to use the book voucher.
Book vouchers for fall are limited to $500.00 or the excess financial aid above the student's current balance due. Any student who has books and supply costs in excess of $500.00 can bring a pending receipt from Stadium Bookstore in order to get an additional book voucher for the remaining balance needed.
Notifications will be sent to students at their MCTC email address if they met the requirements to have book voucher information electronically submitted to Stadium Bookstore.
Any student who does not have financial aid available by Wednesday, August 11th and does not receive notification of a book voucher, will need to come to the Cashier's Office in Room B3 of the MCTC Building to pick up a book voucher once they have financial aid available.
Message from the Cashier's Office
Payment Plan Agreements can now be arranged for the Fall 2010 semester in the Cashier's Office in Room B3 of the MCTC Building. One-third of the balance due must be paid when the Payment Plan Agreement is signed. The agreement must be signed and the payment made by the deadline for tuition shown on your billing statement. Failure to make payment by the payment deadline may result in a late fee being charged to your account, and/or your registration being cancelled for non-payment. There is a 1% fee for signing up for the payment plan agreement. After the initial payment, one-half of the remaining balance due must be paid by September 15th, with the full balance due by October 15th.
All students registering during the Early Registration Period (through August 13th) must pay in full, have their balance covered by authorized financial aid, or be on a payment plan by the due date of August 13th. All students registering during the week of August 16th, must pay on the day they register for classes.

Mountwest Orientation Information and Advising Center Availablity
The Mountwest Orientation program welcomes new students and helps provide a seamless transition into college life. During this informative program you will receive an introduction to student services and learn more about starting your college career. By attending Mountwest Orientation you will:
Meet with an Academic Advisor, register for classes, obtain your Mountwest ID, participate in a campus tour, and much more! During our orientation dates the MCTC Advising Center (Basement Area) will be closed from approximately 1pm-3pm.

Mountwest Signs Agreement with U.S. Army
An agreement was signed in Huntington this morning at the Mountwest Cooking and Culinary Institute. Members of Mountwest Community and Technical College signed an educational covenant with the U.S. Army.
The agreement lets military personnel apply their training skills to earn college credit at the school. (Read More)

Mountwest Acquires Property for New Campus
Mountwest Community and Technical College has closed on the purchase, and now is the official owner, of the property atop 5th Street Hill in Huntington, West Virginia for the purpose of relocating their campus to that location.

Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship Program
WHAT: A $2,000 scholarship for final year, technical education students and a customized Westward® toolkit from the leading supplier of facilities maintenance products - Grainger.
WHO: Eligible students must be entering their final year of technical education studies at MCTC in the fall of 2010. Areas of study include electronic systems, HVAC/R, plumbing, welding, construction, automotive or other industrial trade.

Summer Tuition and Fees Payment Deadlines
PAYMENT DEADLINES
All tuition and fees for any summer school registration through Sunday, May 2nd (in excess of any financial aid showing as authorized to the students account) is due in full by Wednesday, May 5th. Students who register during the week of May 3rd, will have through Friday, May 7th, to make payment in full. Failure to meet any applicable payment deadline may result in classes being dropped for nonpayment.
Failure to receive a billing statement will not be accepted as an excuse for missing any payment deadline...

Monday, April 12th registration began for the Fall 2010 semester for currently enrolled students.

From Marshall to Mountwest
With the passage of Senate Bill 499, and the anticipated signing of the Bill by Governor Manchin, MCTC has begun its transition to Mountwest Community and Technical College.
MCTC's new beginning as Mountwest Community and Technical College presents many great opportunities. Over the next few weeks the MCTC website will undergo a transformation to reflect the change in identity from Marshall to Mountwest. MCTC will continue to be used as the acronym for the community college.
