Associate of Applied Science • 60 Credit Hours

Multimedia Design is a two-year, multidisciplinary approach to creative problem solving through technical skills, digital tools, and visual communication skills. With a focus on digital media and design, individuals learn to discover, define, develop, and deliver compelling content in a variety of areas, including motion design, animation, 3D arts, and filmmaking to name a few.

HOW IS THE PROGRAM STRUCTURED?

Mountwest offers a variety of course delivery options: in-person, live remote, and online. All Multimedia Design program-specific classes are offered with in-person and/or live remote options to better fit students’ learning needs. Classes are recorded and posted to Blackboard for students to access at any time.

Admission Requirements

The college adheres to an open admission policy which means applications with a high school diploma or GED are eligible for admission. Applicants with neither a high school diploma nor GED may be admitted on a conditional basis.

Comprehensive, Technical-Based Courses

Students in the Multimedia Design program learn to observe trends, explore innovation, and apply creative solutions to convey stories, ideas, and messages in the highly competitive field of digital media and design.
The program-specific curriculum includes courses designed to create a comprehensive base of skills needed for the industry, including:

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply design principles in areas of motion design using industry-specific software in various digital formats for web, social media platforms, television, and presentations.
  2. Utilize design principles in all aspects of production for storytelling in motion.
  3. Construct digital projects that incorporate multiple design elements such as text, graphics, audio, video,
  4. and animation.
  5. Participate in conferences, workshops, and student-based programs and activities in order to develop a professional commitment to their field.
  6. Show the use of professional ethics and copyright regulations in applied instances.
  7. Analyze and interpret client requirements.
  8. Communicate effectively with others in the field and with clients. and configure an interconnected network device (ICND) infrastructure based on business needs.
