Procedure
Students must complete the online application to apply for funds.
The Mountwest Foundation will review requests and make determinations within 10 business days of receiving a funding request. When possible, expenses will be paid directly by Mountwest Foundation to the company or vendor in which the student intends to utilize the funding, rather than giving the money directly to the student.
Please note that Mountwest Foundation may not be able to fulfill all requests received, and requests will be considered on a case by case basis. Approved requests are contingent upon funding.
The Student Emergency Fund is completely supported through donations to Mountwest Foundation. If you are interested, you can give by: https://www.mightycause.com/donate/Mctc-Foundation , or via check, with a note on the memo line of “Emergency Fund” to:
Mountwest Foundation 1 Mountwest Way Huntington, WV 25701
Payroll deductions are also available to Mountwest employees! Obtain the form by contacting foundation@mctc.edu .
Beginning in Spring 2024, Mountwest Foundation Student Emergency funding will average around $100 or less per student. Students will receive funding in the form of gas cards, grocery gift cards, uber/lyft gift cards, as appropriate rather than a distribution of cash.
